Programming with Recognized Transmitter(s):

Programming procedure for Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Cruze:

A new transmitter can be programmed to the vehicle when there are one or two recognized transmitters. To program, the vehicle must be off and all of the transmitters, both currently recognized and new, must be with you.

1.1. Place the recognized transmitter(s) in the rear cupholder in the center console (Chevrolet Camaro 2016) or the front cupholder (Chevrolet Cruze 2016).
1.2. Place two recognized transmitters in the rear cupholder (Chevrolet Camaro 2017-2021; Chevrolet Cruze 2018, manual transmission) or the front cupholder (Chevrolet Cruze 2017-2019.)
2. Remove the key lock cylinder cap on the driver door handle. Insert the vehicle key of the new transmitter into the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle and turn the key to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays READY FOR REMOTE #2, 3, 4 or 5, 6,7, or 8
3. Replace the recognized transmitter with a new transmitter. Place the new transmitter in the rear cupholder in the center console.
4. Press ENGINE START/STOP. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC will show that it is ready to program the next transmitter.
5. Remove the transmitter from the transmitter pocket and press Lock or Unlock. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 3-5. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold ENGINE START/STOP for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
6. Put the key back into the transmitter.

 

Programming procedure for Chevrolet Malibu:

A new transmitter can be programmed to the vehicle when there are one or two recognized transmitters. To program, the vehicle must be off and all of the transmitters, both currently recognized and new, must be with you.

1.1. Place the recognized transmitter(s) (Chevrolet Malibu 2016) or two recognized transmitters (Chevrolet Malibu 2017) in the transmitter pocket with the buttons facing the rear of the vehicle. The transmitter pocket is inside the center console storage area.
1.2. Place the two recognized transmitters in the cupholder (Chevrolet Malibu 2018-2021).
2. Remove the key lock cylinder cap on the driver door handle. Insert the vehicle key of the new transmitter into the key lock cylinder on the outside of the driver door and turn the key counterclockwise five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays READY FOR REMOTE #2, 3, 4 or 5.
3. Place the first new transmitter into the transmitter pocket with the buttons facing the rear of the vehicle.
4. Press ENGINE START/STOP. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC will show that it is ready to program the next transmitter.
5. Remove the transmitter from the transmitter pocket and press Lock or Unlock. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 3-5 for each new transmitter. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold ENGINE START/STOP for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
6. Put the key back into the transmitter

 

Programming without Recognized Transmitter(s) for Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Malibu:

If there are no currently recognized transmitters available, follow this procedure to program up to eight transmitters. This feature is not available in Canada. The vehicle must be off and all of the transmitters to be programmed must be with you.

1. Remove the key lock cylinder cap on the driver door handle. Insert the vehicle key of the transmitter into the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle and turn the key to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center (DIC) displays REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
2. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN and then press ENGINE START/STOP. The DIC display will again show REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
3. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time, all previously known transmitters will no longer work with the vehicle. The remaining transmitters can be relearned during the next steps. The DIC display should now show READY FOR REMOTE # 1.
4. Place the new transmitter into the rear cupholder in the center console (Chevrolet Camaro; Chevrolet Cruze) or into the transmitter pocket with the buttons facing toward the rear of the vehicle (Chevrolet Malibu).
5. Press ENGINE START/STOP. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC will show that it is ready to program the next transmitter.
6. Remove the transmitter from the cupholder/transmitter pocket and press Lock or Unlock. To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 4-6. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold ENGINE START/STOP for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
7. Put the key back into the transmitter.
