Description
If you have two unique working keys that start the engine then you can easily add additional keys yourself using the instructions included with this remote head key. If not, you can get an automotive locksmith to program the vehicle to accept additional keys by plugging a scan tool into the car to perform programming.
This remote head key's FCC ID is OHT692427AA. This remote head key's Mopar part number is 68000603AB. 68000603AA and 04589317AA are superceded part numbers. This works on 2007-2015 Jeep Compass without remote start. This also works on 2007-2015 Jeep Patriot without remote start.
Remote For Jeep:
This remote features 3 buttons: Lock, Unlock, and Panic. This remote sends it's signals on a frequency of 315Mhz. This remote will work for your vehicle if your vehicle is equipped with factory keyless entry.
Programming Instructions:
Make sure you have two keys that will start the vehicle before beginning the procedure.
1. Cut the new key to match your existing keys.
2. Insert the first valid key into the ignition and turn the ignition on for more than 3 seconds but less than 15 seconds. Turn the ignition off and remove the first key.
3. Within 15 seconds, use the second valid key to turn the ignition to on. After 10 seconds a chime will sound and the theft alarm light will begin to flash. Turn the ignition to off and remove the second key.
4. Insert the newly cut invalid key into the ignition and turn the ignition to on within 60 seconds. After 10 seconds a single chime will sound. The theft alarm light will stop flashing, then it will turn on for 3 seconds; then it will turn off. The new key has been validated and will be able to start the vehicle. If it was a remote head key then the remote will now operate the keyless entry system. Repeat this procedure for up to 8 keys.
