There are three possibilities:
  • Your vehicle has a factory installed system and needs a factory remote.
  • Your vehicle has an aftermarket system and needs an aftermarket remote.
  • Your vehicle has no system and would need to have a whole system installed to have a remote.
To find out if your vehicle is equipped with factory keyless entry you can call your local dealer parts department with your VIN number and ask if your vehicle is equipped with factory keyless entry. If you have one of the following vehicles we can run your VIN: Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Eagle, GMC, Hummer, Jeep, Oldsmobile, Plymouth, Pontiac.

If it turns out that you do have the factory keyless entry system then you can look up your vehicle on our website to find the correct remote for it.

If your vehicle is equipped with an aftermarket system there may be telltale signs. Two signs would be a valet switch or button mounted on the lower part of your dash or an LED light mounted somewhere on the driver’s side dash. If you have a remote start system installed there will usually be an antenna mounted on the inside of the windshield.

If you find that you do have an aftermarket system find the brain of the system under the dash. The wires from the valet switch and LED light will lead to this box. Tell us the brand and model name of the system as it appears on the box. It is usually printed on a sticker on the top of the box. With the brand and model name we can determine which remote you need.
